Has anyone had success with making potting compost from mushroom compost .
I'd probably need to add other things maybe top soil and sand or grit.
Will I just end up with mushrooms growing all the time.
    Any thoughts.

Over the years I've used many tonnes of MC on my garden.
It's generally good stuff (and cheap), but it can be quite alkaline as chalk is added to it, so not sure how well some plants will like it. But if you add other composts to it that will reduce the alkalinity.
I've never seen any mushrooms appearing (sadly)

@pete I haven't tried it myself, but I remember it can be quite alkaline.
Yes you will probably get some free mushrooms.

I used to top dress my clay soil with loads of it, and it was a family challenge with the kids to get to the mushrooms first. Although I know they add chalk, it didn't seem to affect the plants, but I never tried making compost purely with it.
