Clara, that track has a slightly 'Feline' groove to it although it doesn't sound like Hughie's vocals, a bit anonymous, still a good one.:dbgrtmb:

I had them on vinyl Freddy but long gone as all my mine are. I downloaded most to cd's years ago to replace a majority of them but sadly not IABD or Quintessence (saw them live in '69 and '73. Marley listened to the same stuff too.:dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb:

That's Baz Warne on vocals, Strongy - He's the baby of the group and he's only been in it for ten years or so! I agree that no one does the vocals quite like Hugh (long gone of course - left the group twenty odd years ago) but Baz has been great news for the Strangs who are right back on form. I recommend the new album, 'Giants'. Here's a great track to give you a taster:

Thanks Freddy, that was great :dbgrtmb:

Joan's version is a classic but Paul Robeson's version is the definitive one. He started singing it on stage when it was written in 1936 and he first recorded it in 1942 and re-recorded it about ten times in the next 17 years. I was at a Joan baez concert where she said that she thought no one could sing it better than Paul Robeson.

They got together again a couple of years back, Jack and Freddy, just for three or four gigs. I got the worst seats in the Hammersmith Apollo (or Odeon, as I still think of it), right at the back of the stalls where you struggle to see anything and people pour beer down your neck all evening. I was just wondering why on earth I wasn't at home nursing a nice drink when Hunter and co came on and gave a really good show. I'm glad I went.
