This tree is a favourite of mine, it’s on the end of our street, autumn colours were lovely this year, but over the last week as you can see it’s shedding most of its leaves, will be bare soon

Lovely - and what a beautiful shape it is! You can enjoy that via the bare branches over the next few months, and then the leaves will start coming through again

Do you know what it is Lem? It has a lovely shape. One of my favourites is the Jacaranda ... in bloom through the orange orchard ...

I’m not sure Victoria, but I’ll find out, the Jacaranda is stunning :dbgrtmb:

I only wish I had taken a picture when the leaves first turned, orange, red, it was beautiful Clare

Thank you Lem. The fronds are pretty too ... only downside it is not evergreen.

                At a wild guess I'd say Beech @Lem .

If you see a Paulownia in full flower it can rival Jacaranda, but its short lived.
The nearest I've seen around here is a bluey-purple wisteria growing high up, and almost smothering a tree.
I had to have a second look, it was so like a jacaranda from a distance.

When I grew it for years in pots I used to find the fallen leaves, when they got wet, had a nasty smell.
                  Only downside.

How strange as neither of us have noticed a bad smell. The only thing we did have a bad smell from was a Fig tree which we promptly disposed of. When you got anywhere near it you could smell cat p*ss ... and no, it wasn't our cats!

I've noticed a faint smell of almonds under my fig tree in hot weather, but nothing bad.
The Jacaranda leaves acted like tea leaves, left a brown stain and smelt similar.

I had the Fig tree in a pot under the Almond tree which has been here since time immemorial. Hmm, maybe because it is wetter there?

We love all trees and have a garden full of them. This time of year they keep us busy clearing leaves  but they make lovely compost to go back into the ground :).

We have two favourite flowering trees and they both have yellow flowers.

We have a Cytisus battandieri almost 20ft high - I've grabbed this picture from the net and the flowers smell of pineapple and the leaves are, mainly, an evergreen with a slightly silvery look.

A Saphora microphylla Sun King that is 16ft high with dark green evergreen leaves (pic also from the net)

Sadly no longer with us we had a third yellow flowering tree, Freemontedendron, tht we loved. Not good to have in your garden if you have a dog as they have tiny hook like hairs that stick and are an irritant (wear gloves when pruning)
