My favourite tree

    This was cut back a few months ago but the blooms can cover the leaves.

          If I had to pick a favourite garden tree it would be Albizia julibrissin, in a good year the flowers and foliage just look perfect. DSC_0481.JPG

          The favourite tree that I've always liked, and I have a smaller version on the allotment is the giant redwood. Sequoiadendron giganteum.
          A picture of a younger me standing in the hole made by a fire many years ago, possibly a few hundred, which the tree is slowly closing and covering over with bark.

            Nice tree, nice shape. If it's beech the ground will be littered with beech nuts. They are very tasty but small and fiddly to shell.

              I thought beech kept their brown leaves on for a long time ?

                Beech only keep their leaves overwinter if they are pruned every year. That's why they make excellent hedges.
