My leaves have fallen off :(

    Hello All.
    A while ago now my children bought me a small acer tree. It seamed to be happy enough however,I came back from trip away last week and all its lovely leaves had fallen off.
    Is this normal??

      It is a deciduous tree, meaning it sheds it's leaves over-winter. So nothing to worry about.

        Just as a matter of interest, Pg, is the Acer in a pot or in the ground??:scratch::snorky:

        It's in a big pot. See pic. Is that OK or doesn't matter either way?

          It will be OK in a big pot as long as it drains well and not full of clay or heavy loam as Acers need good drainage and some wind protection is preferable It is a vigorous variety and will have a cascading habit, They chose a very nice Acer.:blue thumb:

            Yes, and no, Pg!!:dunno::snorky: I'm not a fan of keeping shrubs or Trees in pots, but that's because, in my opinion, the compost in the pot loses all it's nutrients and even adding feed is only a temporary measure that, in reality, most people don't remember to do.:doh:.........and,of course, it all depends how "big" the pot is:heehee: So, I'd rather grow them in the ground........but a lot of gardeners would disagree with me:snorky:
