My visit to Norfolk

For the second time this year I visited UK, Norfolk this time. First must say that whole time there I had lovely weather, and no rain at all. Will not wright a lot, but there will be lot of photos. Second day of my visit I met with our @Busy-Lizzie and her husband Cedric in Thetford. We went to Oxburgh Estate and after that we had a nice lunch. They show me their lovely home. Once more a huge Thank you to both of you, for you time, hospitality and everything else. Third day I traveled to Cromer. Beautiful seaside town with long, long beach and paths to walk around. I had crab sandwich for lunch in small restaurant on pier. Next two days I wandered thru and around Norwich. So much things to see, many bookstores, lovely little shops and much more. Of course friend and family expected presents, so I was to times in raid on M&S and pillaged festive treats department. Even brought home clotted cream for friends, and Marmite for enemies.

Just one part of my loot. Luckily customs officers in Zagreb didn't look in my luggage at all. Very friendly lady at cash register asked my what am I going to do with all that.

Thank you dear @Songbird, and don't worry, I bought few small things for myself. Small teapot, tin of custard, toy for my dog, snacks for cats, and lots of Christmas cards.

I have been to Norwich 20 years ago and found it as one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the UK.
Thanks for Oxburgh Estate. We went to Petworth House recently and thanks to Bendor Grosvenor (Amazon Prime, The Art Detectives, which is BBC’s Britain’s Lost Masterpieces), I understand the sense of portrait paintings much better.
The M&S Shortbread package lasted only 4 days when I bought it

There are 2 cathedrals in Norwich, the more modern Catholic one with a chunky tower and the much older C of E one with a tall, elegant spire, though, pre-reformation, the C of E one was the Catholic one.

I hope everyone enjoys their presents. Your suitcase must have weighed a ton!

Reminds me to buy a tin of shortbread - arguably the best biscuit with a cup of tea!

 

Thank you @Busy-Lizzie. My suitcase weighed just under 20kg, and I broke a long handle for pull it. Must buy new one before next trip.

@simone_in_wiltshire and @AuntyRach, I love buttery taste of shortbread with tea or something stronger. It can't last long in my house either.

 

Love what you've bought @Ante1 that Noel dec is so unusual. The teapot beckons for a good cuppa!

If I remember correctly, we had lunch some years ago on that pier in Cromer!
I haven't seen pictures of Oxburgh before - must try to visit sometime.
I like your haul of Xmas goodies, reminds me of when we visit our Dutch friends, they like Yorkshire tea and shortbread!

 

@Ante1 , next time you're in M&S try some of their Gold teabags. They're the best!
