    Your UK plant knowledge is still with you though Victoria. :) Your probably right, it does sound like a Pieris.

      I'd go for Pieris as well because not only is it definitely pink but also assuming Rachel has been doing the run for a while I'd guess the Photinia or Berberis would have been noticeable for a while whereas the Pieris is far more noticeable at this time of year.

          Well now looking at the pic (my daughter took it so have only just seen it this close up), I can see it does look like petals :oopss: ... Seen so many and they all low growing (which I thought the Azalea is not necessarily)?
          Researching on the previous comments I did think it was close to the Berberis thunbergii !! Maybe I shall purchase these instead :).
          I'm clearly not very 'green fingered'!! Thank you again though.

          Just to show Azaleas can be low growing here's a couple of real ground huggers:-
          Dwarf Yellow Azalea.jpg Stands about 6" high.
