Sorry Spruce..........that was finger trouble, I've amended it now!!!!:lunapic 130165696578242 5: I was bobbing between the Green House, putting my Telescope together, and GC..........multi functioning obviously not my thing today!:heehee:
Grass is a survivor and apart from deep shade will grow happily in most places. I would recommend that Anthony use General Purpose Grass seed and I wouldn't recommend any feed when sowing as it can make growth too soft.:coffee::snork:

Is seeding easier than putting turf down?

But it will still be a no go area for a couple of weeks while it roots in , but they can help water it in from the patio

I think it's about time we had a sticky thread in the 'Lawns' Forum on how to prepare ground and grow a new lawn. What do others think?

I can't help you with that Anthony. I've laid both grass seed and turf on clay and sandy soil in different gardens and never felt the need to use the above. The lawns had no problems establishing. Feeding the lawn after it was established was done from the second growing season onwards.

              Hi

Gardens all level and heeled in, awaiting lawn. Great thanks to Gardeners Corner and members on this thread for advice from day 1.

I used some topsoil, about 20 bags to help level out.

              Here's how it looks

I'll rake in some fertiliser before I lay turf on.....

Not sure of my facts ... but it might be best to do that a week or so before laying the turf, and then mix it in a little.
