Is there a quick way to get rid of ferns? I've tried hoeing out the ferns but I found it labor intensive.

    I'm newbie in gardening.

I have no suggestion on getting rid of ferns - do you know which type they are? Or, could it be bracken?
If it is bracken, there is some good advice on the RHS site and I'm sure members will be along soon to offer their personal experiences :)

I've got a pesky bracken on my rockery, it's up against the rocks that surround the pond. I don't want to use chemical removal due to the toads & newts in the pond so I keep having to cut it back & dig out as much as I can

Bracken poisons itself. Scrunch it up and break up the stems as it begins to die back. September/october. It may take a few years dependant on how vigourous its become.
