:). I suppose I shouldn’t laugh, there again. I am so glad I live in the countryside with no immediate neighbours. The story is on the BBC website.

Looks like it was done out of spite.

Another proof being grown up doesn't correlate with age....

Joke aside, I can partly understand them. The neighbors south of our garden also decided to plant a row of trees near the border, leaving us in the shade while they enjoy the sunlit trees. But I guess it's live and let die. We don't complain about the trees, they don't complain about our cats

I think if it was my tree it would definitely stay there from now on.

I don't know the full story and whether any chat had gone on before this was done, but it's been there a long time.

If the tree had been allowed to grow naturally huge then i would get it, but the owner had kept it in a nice ball shape and it looked smart.

Why plant a tree right up against a boundary that's going to grow across your neighbours' property!

And then get upset about them trimming it back to the boundary?

Is it just the 'imperfect' neighbours who want control over adjoining properties?

Well I've not come across a neighbour who is perfect yet, we all have our failings, well, us mere mortals do anyway.
But most of us just have to put up with it.

Would I prefer that tree next to me or loud music:scratch:

I know which one I would prefer.

Now if it was both, then I could perhaps understand the tree.;)

There is more to this than just a tree.

My neighbour planted various shrubs on our boundary and over the years i have many big examples overhanging my garden.
I have to endure choisia mexican orange blossom, philadelphus mockorange, honeysuckle, jasmine and a buddlia.
The scents i have to put up with.. And to think i get all the benefits whilst my good neighbour did all the planting.

Indeed, I have never had success with Verbena but my over-the-fence neighbour has so I get the Verbena delight for free  In turn, my Clematis stubbornly faces them so they get that for free.

My best ever neighbours used to play music when working in their garden and their playlist happened to match exactly with my forgotten treasures one. So I washed up grooving with Johnny B Goode and some CCR and when the post came in the morning we were doing "Please Mister Postman" together

The thing with music is it can be a very personal taste and it often depends on the time of the day and the mood you are in.

Loud rap music in the garden is and never will be to my taste.

Much as I like the kind of music you mention, having a doze on a lazy sunny afternoon is not the time I would pick to listen to it.;)
It would be enough to make me go and chop down that tree that is overhanging my garden.

Much as i love music indoors my best moments in the garden are with the natural sounds of the birds and the bees.
We only have music on the patio on warm summer evenings with a bottle of wine but even then i wouldn't have it loud. As for rap...urghh. That's just not music (to my ears anyway) :noidea:

My neighbour across the canyon has a number of dogs, which enjoy sending their auditory emails at all times of day and night.
                          I have a banjo.
                          It works out about even.
