I do have to admit that I`m quite a lucky person , my local market is amazing also from March to November we have a flower and plant market on friday ...plus many time there are lots of charity event or old pensioner that sell plants for penny ...
That`s why I try to avoid the market , but they are so cheap .

Unlike Sarracenias, I find the plant secretes its own juices into the pitcher, they should already contain fluid.
As to watering, I try to use rain water as the compost should be acidic I believe.

          Sal,
          Those Nepenthes are very nice.

In SA, I had a shade house with over 100 of them. Including N rajah.

I wouldn't worry too much about feeding them at this time of year. Just keep them damp, warm and humid, and they should be ok until spring.
You probably don't want them growing too much in the low light levels of winter.

If you feed too much Nitrogen, they get ugly dead blotches on the pitchers

Yup, and really difficult to grow. Mine, a relatively small one, always struggled.
A friend of mine who lived near me, had a shade house set up just for his rajah. Temp, humidity and water controlled. And his was huge.

Al , I`ve been avoided them before , because of the price and the indoor overwinter , but consider that even my miss usually stop me to buy strange plant , but in this case she actually forced me to buy them both ...a must have for tropical lovers :blue thumb:

Al this year , I rarely seen a fly around my garden as the sarracenia had them all , even discovered that venus fly trap , eats loads of baby snails and they are frost hardy .....really looking forward to increse my carnivore collection to keep pest under control.
                  look at the sarracenia .
