Esme and Gytha are the first names of the two elderly witches in Terry Pratchet's discworld novels. Esme Weatherwax is a stern old crone, a bit of a battle axe, but with a good heart. Gytha Ogg is a jovial old lady with strong mothering instincts, and a dubious sense of humour.

My horrible next door neighbours have just called their latest baby Esme ..... poor poor girl!! Mind you, the rest of them all have not very nice name either .... or maybe they just never sound nice when they are being shouted VERY loud 24/7 :)

Sounds good for a chicken though :)

ah, gotcha! :gnthb: I have heard of Nanny Ogg.

I decided on Esme and Rhoda. They hid in the coop most of the day, so I shoo'd them out to eat before they roosted. they werent out 5 minutes before Jim went and humped Rhoda! :hehe: HOW RUDE!! :rotfl:

Jim well, he accepted Rhoda ok, but Esme was another matter! all 3 of the old ones picked on her summat chronic, ripping feathers out of her head and making it a bloody mess! [IMG] i took her out to protect her till hubby came home and cud sort them out.
with them gone, we went back to Potters of Weybread where we got Rhoda and Esme, and chose 3 others. we figured as they were all kept in the same enclosure, then they'd already sorted out the pecking order and there shudnt be any probs.
we got a light sussex (white with black speckles) called Jessica (kids named thes ones), a calder ranger (browny ginger) called Gemma and a Pied Suffolk (black and silver) which is waiting on a name. they all get on famously and the 3 that are old enough to lay, have been!!
