Good Morning I Mrs Woo has just purchased a new Hosepipe and I cannot work out how to attach it to my water tap ,I know I am a wise Owl but being wise doesn't mean that I am intelligent, the tap has a screw thread on it and as far as I can see I have no attachment which coincides with the tread on the tap, would appreciate any assistance forthcoming,I am now going to go and lie down in a dark room:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Step 13 on the instruction sheet.

If the grey or yellow male fittings (sitting on top of squares 13 and 14) don't fit then it will be the one with the hose clip: see if you can unscrew it to fit your tap.

The white piece is a reducer fitting.

This particular reel looks like it will need internal assembly before use as there is an anti-crush spring coil fitting.

If you look carefully, there is a female fitting with a non-return valve.

In case anyone is wondering, the reel is sometimes mounted above the tap which means that the water inside the hose itself will flow downwards towards the tap and, potentially, contaminating the water source when the nozle is not being used. The valve prevents this back flow.

I'm looking carefully, but I'm not sure what I'm looking at:biggrin:

I had to change my outside tap a couple of years ago as it didn't have one.

It's the one with the white dot in the middle and red hose gripper "olive".

Sometimes there is a hose fitting with a non-return valve that has the word 'STOP' embossed on the outside. Inside, there is a little central knob like the stigma of a flower, which will push back and stop the water going the wrong way.

I was under the impression it had to be part of the tap if the tap was outside?
Maybe I got it wrong, but there is nothing stopping you connecting any old bit of hose to that tap.
