Who ever you choose avoid B&Q. Their stock is end of line and their fitters made a complete hash of my daughter's kitchen. Not only that - they left the job unfinished after six weeks and only turned up a couple of days a week to work. When my daughter complained more than once an independent team had to be employed to put it right.

Have you any current neighbours or work colleagues that can point you in a useful direction? Your builders may also be able to recommend someone.

    Sorry @Sheal , but I wonder if it's an area thing/management thing with B&Q.

My mom has had both her kitchen and bathroom done by them. The kitchen is just an ordinary job well done ( replacement cupboards/doors etc ) but the bathroom is absolutely stunning. The tiling and everything is spot on. The only problem that she had was that they supplied the wrong tap for the sink . They then told her that the one she wanted was out of stock but they resolved that by giving her an upgraded one for free and a £50 voucher .

Yup, B&Q were never in the running, same with Homebase. Builders have recommended I go to Howdens / Benchmarx as the supply is easy and the trade discount. Since then I have been in touch with DIY Kitchens and their quote is very good value. Weirdly their products also get fab reviews from customers and installers so quite tempted by them. Others have taken the quote from DIY Kitchens to Howdens to price match it so that's also an option.
Installation will be part of the build and the chap in charge is a chippy so presumably no worries there!

I think you mum has been lucky with her teams @KFF. My daughter's problem with B&Q isn't the only bad report I've heard and it seems that Andy has confirmed that.

It sounds like you've got a couple of good recommendations Andy, now you have to toss a coin. :)

My rule of thumb in renovation is will the product I use be easy to keep clean and have quality longevity.

Hi @Loofah, I don't get it either, also, all that info about you on the left. If I want to see anyone details ( posts, dates, ratings etc ) I have to click on their picture and it comes up separately as a new page.
