Well I'd go for it, I don't think any run off from it would be that bad for the water In the pond.
    It was just a thought.

Thanks for the reply. I am wondering what I could do with the waterbut by the pond it has a tap and can have a filter added to the waterbut but the stand is not high enough I looked around. For a higher stand but could not find one so a bit unsure what to do as it holds 210 litre of water. The water but idea was to fill up the pond with rain water
      Thanks for the advice

I wouldn't bother, it will take ages that way, unless we get a flood.
Tap water matures after a few weeks.

:dunno:Thanks for the reply. A reason why I got the waterbut was I remember someone saying don't use tap water on a pond. Now it seems I can't use the waterbut:gaah:

Well you can use it for topping up in the future. But you will need more water than that for the initial fill up.

That was the idea but getting stand for it without again using sleepers will be a problem.
It say it can also be used as a filtration system but unsure how

Dunno , not something I've tried.
I sometimes siphon water from a water butt into my pond but during the summer the water butts are used for watering plants, the pond just gets tap water via a hose.

Its one of those ideas I find pretty impractical because during the summer, when the pond needs topping up, the butts are usually being filled with tap water anyway.

Remind me of the plan, was it still to cap the top sleeper with a board of some kind.
If so both should run over the top sleeper and the top board fixed through the liner and underlay.

Hi the plan was to cap of the top of the sleepers with. A board of some kind.
The top layer is not screwed down at the moment the reason being I am looking at waterfall feature if. I put the liner etc over the top of the top sleeper I won't have much of a drop down of water from water fall feature

Hi I have now got the underlay and liner to go into the pond.
Can I pin down the underlay? To get the shape of the pond
            Thanks

Use stones or bricks. Anywhere you pin will leak!

As @Loofah says, use bricks etc.

Once the liner is laid any excess should overhang and be held in place with bricks.
As you fill the pond with water the liner will be pushed into its final shape and it may pull the liner down a little further, so with brick etc holding the edges it can slip, but if you pin it will tear.

Once the pond is full give it a day or two to fully settle, then you can trim off any excess liner, but suggest you leave a good margin.

Thanks for the reply. Why would it leak if. You pin the underlay down but not the liner.
I have had a go at putting in underlay. At the moment it has got sleepers on top so it won't blow away. And yes it needs tidying up after the. Wood goes around the edges.

You do not want to pin the underlay for the same reason, you want it and the liner to both mold to the shape of the pond as its filled with water.

Also you don't want to place sissors or other sharp things on the edge just waiting to be knocked into the pond and puncturing things !! :frown:

Don't see and planting shelves in there ??
A quick and easy way to add some before fitting the underlay / liner is to use a bag of sand to form a shelf, leave the bag intact , it can be carefully kicked and stamped into a decent shape.
If a full bag is too big, remove some sand and reseal the bag with Gaffer tape.
The bag holds it all in position, unlike using just the sand on it own which can sink away.
