After the day I have had, I have to disagree - - if it were not for the whisky, I would be depressed as hell. :Wino:

It was actually recommended by one of my senior managers after today - I think he knew I was on the verge of clearing my desk and telling them to poke it where the sun definitely doesn't shine. Suffice to say, HR was involved, and the person concerned is an absolute waste of skin

No joke @BeeHappy - absolute fact.

I truly pity anyone who works in HR, as they either have no feelings, no soul, no compassion, or a complete misundertanding of the world at large (or any combination thereof); how anyone can do a job where they singularly destroy people is beyond me.

Awww sorry FC, my apologies- I thought your boss was kidding you - hadn't realized that it was NOT said in jest, very poor to think that people are disregarded in such a diabolical way- Don't envy anyone who has to work under such stressful demeaning conditions.

During my first visit to a new doctor, I was asked if I drink alcohol. I looked him straight in the eye and said yes, every day. Red wine spritzers. No, not to get legless but to mellow after a long day. And I have not experienced a hangover in 20 years or so. No need to cause self inflicted misery. (I do enjoy nice wine straight but rarely do so. I have a wine cellar with over a hundred bottles of vintage wines and only crack one for special occasions. Lots of years spent building up my stock. :) )

Know your limit. Drink within it. If you choose to do so.

My liver enzyme levels haven't been a point of concern according to the docs.

I never drink before 4, or what I call the end of my work day. Lunch imbibing is the most visible and damaging. People talk and you don't want that walk.

And I am careful to imbibe in a positive attitude. No drowning sorrows or being hostile. Steady and true to self works. On the off chance I get maudlin, I stay private.

And it is no one's business what happens outside of work.

Keep your life compartmentalized. You'll be happier.

And avoid people who have flippant responses. They live in fairyland. And they really can harm you.

                      Hugs

                      Lori

I do enjoy a glass of wine but like Canadian Lori, i also have spritzers just because i prefer them. I do think that there are people that turn to drink as an escape- just like some will turn to food or drugs sadly, as Jiffy has pointed out there can be tragic circumstances arising from any abuse of alcohol. My heart goes out to anyone affected, in this way. So it goes without saying that some folk who suffer from the flip side will never be favorable to any form of social drinking and i respect that. It has been noted that I am by nature an upbeat person, so having a glass of wine does not improve my demeanor- other than to, as it seems here in this thread not to have read, into the posts in the correct way and reacted accordingly- so can i once again offer my apologies to anyone who i may have inadvertently offended. It is most certainly not in my nature as a very sensitive, compassionate person to cause any hurt or upset to anyone :grphg:

I found a pint of Beer at Lunch always sent me to sleep, so I always drank Orange Juice at business lunches to keep my brain alert and looking like I knew what was being talked about.:heehee::loll::lunapic 130165696578242 5:
