:( My green beans have not come on at all!! They've simply spiralled the canes and stopped growing.

I'm left with approx 6 courgette plants which are starting to fruit now - YEY!! - and 2 strawberry plants which have approx 2 strawberries on but they are no where near ripe for picking. My tomato plant is flowering, but I think it is dying off :(

    So disappointed this year

We've all been having trouble with the weather this year, its not just you.

My maincrop beans are only just coming on, although i've been picking dwarf lop eared french beans for a month or so already.

    Hi Snowbaby.

I'm afraid it's like that, being disappointed by certain aspects of the garden. Every year, something fails for me, and I expect most folk that garden will say the same. One has to learn to be a bit philosophical, I think, and as ARMANDII says, there's always next year :)

    Cheers...Freddy.

I will admit, I haven't been as enthusiastic about it all this year as I was last year. Mostly because our garden was a midden, just such a depressing mess. We had no money to spare to spend on it. Eventually we managed to save a budget to spend on it, and last week we got a quote for a complete overhaul of the main area (de-weed, dig over in preparation for soil to bring the level up 2" and then turf/lawn seed, and another area was to get slabs lifted, in preparation for stone chipping) but at the last minute the guy doubled our quote to some ridiculous price which we hadn't the money for.

We turned him down for obvious reasons and at the last minute a knight in shining armour, in the form of my friend's husband along with our nephew came and did the work for....... £0 !!!!!! I'm astounded at the generosity of people. It means we can use our budget to turf/chip it really well and not skimp due to lack of funds.

Boy that was a long story. But the jist of it was that hopefully next year I will have more oomfph to get veggie-growing. My courgettes are coming on really fast the last few days and I'm pretty sure I will have courgettes coming out of my ears in the very near future!!

Looks like he was trying to make a few bob out of you SB.

Hope it all comes together, lob some pics on if you want.

I'd see the Doctor about the corgettes coming out of your ears though, sounds like you planted the seeds in the wrong place.
