I tend to have a different viewpoint on these sort of nuisances. As I am on the TPS list I then consider any unsolicited callers as fair game. I have great fun in messing them around and Mrs shiney quite often ends up almost rolling on the floor in laughter :heehee:.

I also fill in the survey forms that are sent to me . According to the info collated from those forms I appear to be a one legged athlete aged 18 - 98, with a wide variety of physical and mental ailments that don't seem to stop me from running marathons and being involved in all sorts of external activities whilst working full time as a postman and a city executive who travels the world for business and pleasure.

I have an extremely wide range of interests that seem to take up about 80 hours a week but still manage to read every newspaper and magazine that they list. I take all, or none, of the health supplements that they list and am a non-smoking smoker who is a teetotal drinker of almost any alcoholic drink.

I think you get the idea. :heehee:

Any unsolicited mail that gets through the post office filters (MPL) is used for lighting fires in the winter.

Jazmine, you don't need to worry too much about those sort of calls if you handle them correctly. If you don't know the person that is calling just be very polite and tell them that your husband handles all calls and can they please give you their name and phone number so you can pass it on to him. :)

Shiney - I do agree with you that they are fair game. However what I hate is the sheer nuisance of the calls. Over the last couple of days I have received quite a few calls that hang up when I answer. The calls get you to come in from the garden or interupt you at meal times etc. I am usually not in a mood to play games with them then.

We have 'caller ID' on our phone. If we don't recognise the number or it says 'external call' or 'no name' then we don't answer it. Portugal Telecom has an automatic voicemail / answering service so if the call is an emergency the caller can leave a message. We dial *200 to see if we have any messages. If we don't check the phone for a while and there is a message, we automatically get a call telling us we have a message. :yess:

Peter, we never answer the phone at meal times and if I hear the phone from the garden I don't come in ... and I don't take the phone (cordless) out with me so I can be disturbed. :heehee: People we know are aware of our timings.

    Victoria,
We're the same. No answering of calls during meals or in the garden - unless I am expecting a call and then I have the cordless with me.
