Olive tree pruning to fruit.

Hello everyone.

I've come looking for some advice on my newly planted Olive tree.

It's very round and compact, and I want to shape it into a more goblet/martini glass shape to encourage fruiting. I didn't know much about them 10 days ago, and let my Son choose from the selection.

I'm not sure how much I can cut off a newly planted tree without hurting it.

I was going to start in the centre with anything growing directly upwards, then move onto bits crossing and rubbing.

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

That's a big old one.
Nice size stem.

Not sure if you actually prune for fruiting, so cant help, they are mostly ornamental in the UK.

I do remember someone remarking about having to go through a fairly lengthy process with the fruit to make them edible but I'm not well up on the subject.
