We've two in pots that we grew from cuttings taken in Greece about 5 or 6 years ago. Despite over wintering under cover, after the hard and prolonged frosts this winter they both looked a bit sick come the Spring. However they've both come back into life though I have had to do a bit of cutting back of dead branches, blossom has been reduced and is later than usual but they are looking pretty healthy.

Sadly we've lost our three oleanders (also cuttings from Greece) that had survived several Scottish winters. We'll just have to bring back some more cuttings this summer and start again!

I have an olive tree in my garden that I bought from the bargain corner at Frosts Garden Centre for £9.99. They usually sell for £50 or more !!

It's been in the ground now for 3 years and so far so good. Seems very slow to grow but then I don't expect fruits of it, I just wanted an Olive tree growing in my garden.:gnthb:

The past winter made me worry for my tree but it seems to have come thru that so there is hope that it will be fine and carry on growing slowly.

    Hi Shobna

I get a few olives on my little tree now. You only ever eat them pickled so I thought I'd look on the web for a recipe. It seems like quite a bit of effort. I suppose there is a certain amount of one-upmanship in having your own jar of olives but on the whole it seems easier to buy them from Sainsburys! Might have a go this year, though.
