No, it's not a climber, Sheal. It is a lovely rose and this particular one is around 30 years old so it lasts. I've given it particular attention this year and it has liked it's weekly dose of Tomato Feed along with the rest of the Roses and flowered it's head off all through the Summer and now into Autumn. It's an American bred HT rose from around 1961, fragrant, good disease resistant, non fading blooms which are rain resistant....at least that's what the catalogue says, and I can't say after all these years that I can argue with that:snork:

Thanks Armandii, it sounds like it'll cope with the weather here then, assuming it's still available. :) I'm keeping an eye on this section and taking note of the roses I like for this new bed of mine........when it gets dug! I intended to start it today, but we've had non-stop rain all day, I'll see what tomorrow brings.

Thank you, Woo for that information as I was wondering who the parent plants were to produce "Kings Ransom"

Sheal, Rose "Kings Ransom" is still widely available which, I suppose, is proof that it's a good rose.:snork:

Thanks Woo and Armandii, 'Kings Ransom' is definitely on my list of must haves! :)

I finally started on the bed today, I spent an hour and a half removing turf, then the heavens opened. Hailstones followed by a cloudburst which stopped further progress. Somebody out there doesn't want me to have roses!

I would like to think that Woo, but my ground is saturated and by the time I managed to get things put away I was paddling on the lawn. :heehee: I will persevere! :)
