I have 3 large orchids which have all flowered. I'm not sure what I do now. Do I break off the now brown and brittle flower stem? Where do I keep them at the moment they are indoors? Do I even cut the leaves? As you can determine I am a keen but very amateur beginner

Charlie, I haven't got many but I cut off the flowering stem, and put mine outside in shade or part sun until the first frost. The occasional feed with tomato food helps to bring next years flowers on. They need somewhere like a cool greenhouse through the winter, high night winter temp. above 10 deg C stop flower spikes growing. Once the spike is well advanced you can bring them in the house.
