There is no need for a modern railway on the island but our steam trains still run through spring and summer. This is Port Erin Station, at the south-west corner of the island and at the end of the Douglas to Port Erin line.

          Excellent thread.

Isn't Douglas Harbour the place the Red Arrows visit every year and never stay? :)

If all goes according to plan, then next year should see me visiting the island again. Notice the word "if." :snork:

            Thanks Fern and Sandy. :)

Yes Sandy, we see the Red Arrows here for T.T. every year. They also display at Ramsey in the north of the island.

Well, another 'if '.......if I'm still here perhaps we could meet up. :)

I might just take you up on that Sheal. The first thing that I will do when I get on the island is drive down to Fairy Bridge. You will know the reason why! :)

@fat controller The Fairy Bridge is near Ballasalla on the Douglas to Port Erin road. It is traditional for anyone passing over the bridge to greet the Fairies and suffer the consequences if they don't! :) There is no need to do so on arrival in the island, only when passing over it.

However this isn't the real Fairy Bridge although it's taken the title. The original is further to the right on farmland.

It doesn't sound very fair[y] to pinch the name and stick it on another bridge. You'd think that the Fairies would kick up a lot of Fairy Dust if they found out!!:hate-shocked::snorky:

Lovely photos Sheal :). I can see the Isle of Mann from certain parts of the Anglesey coastline, depending on weather conditions. We have talked about having a weekend away there. Be great for some cycling I think:).

Thanks @luciusmaximus . :) We rarely see Wales from here as the weather has to be really clear. It is a pretty island and ideal for cycling. You would have to cram your days though to take in everything, if you're only here for a weekend.
