The palm addiction carries on :heehee:. Brought this washingtonia robusta today.
To me it looks like there are 5 palms, can these be split?
Or would I be better just cutting out the smaller/weaker ones?

Just a update on the chamaerops cerifera from palmcentre

      Dear Mr ******,

We have removed these from the website, the top growth looked so healthy I assumed the root system was strong, I know Chamaerops are very tough plants and I really do think that your palm will establish well, if for any reason it does not we are happy to send a replacement palm.

Even after 16 years buying and growing palms, I do make the occasional mistake and sincerely apologise if you feel you have been undervalued as a customer,

Please stay in touch, I am happy to respond to any concerns, in the meantime I will send you a complimentary palm fertilizer.

      Can't say fairer than that

I know I've probably made a BIG mistake but I've dug up the trachycarpus fortunei on the front.
The leaves have been getting more yellow and more yellow.
Even the new spears emerging looked yellowish.
So decided to dig down around roots to investigate.
Upon digging I found hardly any new roots apart from 2 small ones which I managed remove safely.
Last year @pete and Kristen both said it looked dodgy.
Last year when I planted in the ground I didn't remove any of the compost from around the roots or tease any if the roots out.
When I took it out of the ground earlier it looks like the palm was a root ball dug one
The roots what were incrusted in solid clay soil and black with lots of stones imbedded in the clay. It looks like the roots couldn't grow out of it.
I know I probably shouldn't of done this but It took me 15 minutes to blast the thick sticky clay off the roots.
I've planted back in the ground now We'll see how it gets on!
I'll take a pic in the morning to show you.

Good question, think I'd be inclined to cut out the ones I didn't want, they do it for better effect, looks better and bushier on the shelf.

Palms often make new roots from the base of the stem, its a slow process, establishment can take a couple of years or so.

Thx @pete It looks a lot yellower than the picture, just wished that I had noticed all the clay around the root ball when I planted it last June. Didn't notice it because all the new compost had stuck to the clay Hey ho it will have to look scruffy for a couple of years :wallbanging:

            Not bad.
Seems to be £3.50 for the 2 plants I ordered.

              @mowgley,
Sorry, only saw this now. :rolleyespink:
It ended up being a bit long winded, but I did get my palms.

              Yours are looking very nice.
