Parsnip seeds sown

Just sown my parsnip seeds in my raised veggie bed loads of sees in Unwins packet .

Anyone growon these before

 

Yes Scotkat, I grow parsnips. They are very slow to germinate so be patient.

 

Hello Alice ,I have plenty patience so hope they do grow.

 

Planted mine a week ago (first batch) indoors in toilet roll inners. All 24 germinated and growing on well.

Will plant out in about 10 days time, then plant some further batches directly in the soil over the coming weeks.

 

How long do they last when harvested and how do you store them?

 

Hi skocat you should be able to leave them in the ground all winter i planted two rows straight into the soil on the 3rd march and lifted what was left of last years crop a week later .
all i do is put them a box of dry sand in the shed have got about 10 left and actually had one roasted with dinner last night ;LOVELY

 

Micky thankyou for your helpful advice and today have made pot of home made parsnip soup with squash leek carrot pepper on the stove cooking slow, although bought parsnip .

 

Never grown squash but my mouth is watering just thinking about it

 

Soup Micky was every so tasty large pot all finished and it was mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
