All my cordless tools use the interchangeable Bosch All 4 one battery, screwdriver/hammer drill, hedge cutter, strimmer, rotary saw and leaf blower. I've never noticed any battery degradation in nearly ten years of owning them. Admittedly I don't use them often, the strimmer the most used at home and the allotment once a week. So worries about batteries are a thing of the past, Li-ion is light years ahead of the old NiCad technology that gave battery powered tools a bad name.

I too use the Bosch All 4 one battery. I have a 2.5Ah that came with my hedge trimmer a spare 2.5Ah and a 1.5Ah that came with my drill. I use one of the 2.5's for everything and it hardly ever needs charging (hedge trimmer only ever used for small tidying up jobs).

What voltage are you all using.
I remember the first cordless drill I bought was only 7.2 volts, would hardly pull the skin off a rice pudding.
The voltages are crazy these days.
Which has more bearing on how powerful the tool is.

Mine are 18v not powerful enough for a mower I reckon.

Tha Mountfield uses 20 volt but the rest seem to be 40 volt.

            The Stihl uses a 36v 118Wh battery at 1.2Kg.

I'd go for the highest voltage I could afford regarding a mower.
Its always better if something is not at the edge of its ability.

Just returning to say thanks for all the replies. I'm still mulling it over and using the strimmer in the meantime. I do have a large garden and am not sure a battery machine would be up to the challenge; not only account of the amount I have to do, but also on how long the grass can get at times when life gets in the way of addressing it!

                Cheers
