Petrol prices in years gone by

    Derv is diesel.
    Shell as far as I know is always a white shell.
    I think Fina used to be blue but not sure they used a shell.

    Could the one shilling be advertising something else on the pump.

    No I don't think so, or it would have said what it was advertising, but it was just a sign saying 1/- on the front of the pump. It was quite big.
    Maybe it was there from many years before, the garage was old. When the price went up the 1/- sign disappeared but the petrol was 1/6 and then half a crown. I can remember it.

    And I remember a blue glass shell with 'SHELL' written in red on it.
