Last one for tonight is a once flowering moss rose that was in the garden already. It is exquisitely scented. I think it may be Laneii aka Lane's Moss, but if anyone has any other ideas I'd be very interested
Editing to say that it suckers vigorously

Yes, he has a special place in my heart :wub2:
And yes, a friend has a nursery nearby specialising in teas, chinas and noisettes, but she has this one too www.frenchtearose.com They mail order all over the world and also go to plant fairs in France, as do many other growers of les roses anciennes. This one was bred in france.
He's best in light shade as he burns in direct sunlight - not so attractive with brown petals lol.
I grew him in the uk too where he also did very well in light shade. Deliciously scented :dbgrtmb:

Ooooooo philomel! That link is going to cost me a fortune! I'll check out the location, but suspect it's not too far from Fourcés where there is a rare plant fair every end of April.
What a fantastic collection you have! Have you had a chance to put some piccies of your garden in the gallery?

The nursery is twenty minutes north of me and Fourcés is about thirty minutes further north. I've been to it but it isn't as good as some of the others around eg Chateau de Gaujacq in les Landes. More bedding and less of everything else. The best locally is Ordan Laroque near Auch on a Sunday in October, or one that I'd guess is between us is St Nicholas le Grave. Hmmm not been to that one for ten years...... The rose nursery have a lovely garden with all their mother plants. Usually open and at its best in April if you fancy a trip this way and a wallow in roses... Becky usually goes to all the fairs I've mentioned btw with the exceptions of Fourcés and Gaujacq.

Think I put some in my introduction thread, but I'll do some as soon as I can. It's very much a work in progress. For various reasons I've only been able to do very basic stuff until this year. Now I'm hoping to do a lot more. :dbgrtmb:

Thanks for the info on the plant fairs, philomel. I've only discovered Lamontjoie and Fourcès to date as the 'exploring' I'd planned has given way to garden slavery:phew:
@lost_in_france...Eve, it's no good, you'll have to plan a tour to the deepest, darkest SW. Perhaps the GC charabanc could collect you on it's way down! You'd have to keep an eye on Armandii and Zigs, though;):roflol:
