Now dont expect anyone to own up, but I think I've used my hands free on about 3 occasions while driving, and I hate doing it.

Main reason, the buttons on the steering wheel are too small, cant really work out which one of the many that I need to press in order to answer a call.

My thinking is that cars have too many tiny buttons mostly on radios etc.

They seem to think that by jamming them on the steering wheel it means you dont have to take your hands off the wheel.

Personally I can manage with one hand on the wheel most of the time.

Its finding that minute button that answers a call or changes the radio channel that gets me, I then need to take my eyes off the road, which in my thinking is worse than taking one hand off the wheel.

Car manufactures need a good kick up the back side and be told to keep buttons and switches to a minimum, at least dont double up, and make them big enough.

    Any thoughts?

Think the new law is brilliant. Still seen a few people blatantly on their phones today mind!

On to cars mines a pug 207..and it's God awful for buttons. You have vol/skip/radio/mpg on a stick right by another stick for wipers and erm? An indicator stick the other side with lights..? Then you got the middle section of the dash, loads of buttons there.. it took me a good year to figure it out ..still press the wrong thing. Oh and the air con/heaters/demister.. There's 4 different buttons for that besides a knob which gives you the option which way u want the air to blow, how hot/cool etc oh and a child lock button and a central locking button.. give me strength!!

My sisters husband has a super duper jag.. don't get me started. TV??

        Loving the title! :heehee:

        My thoughts?

Generally, people are far too blasé about it (with regards to others *and* themselves!).

Like this numpty, who also decided to try and argue the toss with me about it (on a motorway!!!), when I caught him in the act and photographed him. See if you can spot/guess *why* I took exception to him doing it

I think that a lot of you on here know my thoughts about the unnecessary distraction caused by mobile phones in cars. When you're driving - don't phone!

Increasing the penalty to six points (the fine seems fairly irrelevant to me) is a good minimum as it will mean a ban for a second offence, but I think it should be a ban for even the first offense of texting whilst driving.

I don't have any problems with buttons on my car. Most that are there, I don't use. Controls on the stalks (headlights and washers) on the steering wheel I can operate without needing to think about them or taking my hands off the wheel.

I'd happily report seeing a driver phoning or texting whilst driving but I don't carry a phone in my car :noidea: :heehee: A friend told me, just the other day, that they were nearly taken out by a lorry driver who was on the phone. It was on a narrow country road, near us, and he came round a bend to find the lorry swerving across the road. He managed to drive up the bank to avoid the lorry and the lorry driver carried on talking on his phone and narrowly missed another car at the next bend!

            Whilst driving!!! :hate-shocked:

That as well as @Linz ... but, as he was blowing a lot of hot air in my direction, I rather prefer the previous comment you made (before you saw my numpty turnip) as being far more descriptive of him ...
... so, I wound my window up! ;)

If you look at that pic, she cant actually see over the dash, let alone drive while using the phone.

Which brings up another point, how many people do you see driving that appear to be sitting on the floor.

Most car seats are adjustable for height these days, but you still see the odd wig driving along, with a bit of a face peering through the steering wheel.
