plant id please

    As I mentioned earlier I have 4 hawthorn trees all about 12 ft tall, I've just been and cut shoots off them and pictures are below. All four have thorns, just quite variable how thorny, all produce similar white flowers in May resulting in similar fruit later.

      They'll seed in from around the area - and often through help from birds @zebrina . If you have field edges nearby, it may have come from there, as hawthorn is still the most popular hedging for any livestock, but equally, it could simply have come from a nearby garden. :smile:
      I now have a quite decent sized one at the back end of the garden, which I'll allow to grow on. They do grow quickly here, even in quite inhospitable sites. I'm taking out the pine that's been in there for donkey's years, as the hawthorn is far more useful for wildlife.
