Mainly Vicia & Lathyrus in Latin. I once had an interesting walk with a friend of a friend who worked for the Italian forrestry, neither of us spoke much of each others language, but at least we could name the trees:snork: The latin names were almost the same as the modern Italian.

The sweetpea seeds came from a poundland pack, and they were mostly very small, with a couple of the larger black ball type seeds in the packet

Sheal the Budleiha was a bush in the morning, after doing some work I sat down for a rest, and noticed two sparrows with beaks stuffed to the gunwales with green leaf,
a couple of minutes later, they returned with five oppo's alighted on my budleiha and stripped it bear in seconds
I did not even try to chase them as I was amazed watching them strip it like a harvesting machine :-)

    Thanks for the id's folks

Sounds like contaminated seed Jack, hope they don't do that with edibles too, could end up killing someone.

The Budleija will respond well to being stripped, once the nest building is over:biggrin:

Sparrows are a blasted nuisance, they are so destructive. My neighbour is feeding about three dozen of them and I'm not amused, as I'm still fighting to stop them nesting underneath my rood tiles. :gaah:

Interesting reading Ziggy. History and build of churches I like, but you're not likely to find me praying in them. :)

Not as much as a Rood to Nowhere, more like a Highway to Heaven.
