    Hi all

Im new to the forum and im looking to start growing at home.
I have a balcony that is approx 11ft long by 3.5ft wide.
I have a few hanging baskets and 3 of the long plant pots hanging over the side.
Im not 100% of the direction the balcony faces but it only gets direct sun after 1ish in the summer.
I have an idea what I would like to grow and would love to hear people ideas, advice and opinions please.

    In mind i have-
    Bell Peppers
    Tomato's (hanging basket)
    Carrots
    possible cucumber
    various salads
    possibly a small cherry tree

Im thinking of planting the long boxed with various salad leaves at different times so I have a continuous supply.

    Thanks

You might want to consider growing some nasturtium.

It is edible, often used in salads, with a mild pepper taste. It is also very pretty, and its growth habit makes it ideal for your balcony. You can stick it in a pot at the edge, or in a hanging basket, and it will just spill over. Interestingly, the more you cut bits off for your dinner, the faster it grows back:)

Years ago I bought a packet of seeds, if memory serves me right, they were either Tom Thumb or Tall Mixed, I think. Since then, I've just collected the seeds every year and the ones I get now are quite different to the first ones I grew, but still they taste the same.

I would call them hanging brackets! Out in the sticks I would ask the local Blacksmith, or a Metal fabricator to make to the required size.
In London I'm not sure of your options, but if you can get someone to make them you can get just what you need, rather than making do.
Hope you find what you need.

Anyone suggested checking with the local structural Engineer, just to be on the safe side? As we diggers know, soil is heavy stuff and wet soil is even heavier. Cheers, Tony.

[IMG] Balcony gardening can be fun.. I would try & think of things you like to eat most & grow things that you like most that are quite expensive to buy but you are able to grow on your balcony...
This is quite interesting & this one too too..
Do you have glass or brick sides, if glass they would act as a bit of a greenhouse.. Post some pics..

The brackets you are after, are sold here at a good price..
