I was curious as to what peoples' (probably unusual) plant dislikes are.

For me its dahlias and hostas. Dahlias are often beautiful, but to me they feel like more of an ornament than a living plant.

Hostas I've never quite understood as such a passion people have. It may be the fact slugs are partial to them, but as shade tolerant plants go I prefer other things like ferns for the leaf shape.

Gladioli I'm not keen on the look of the flowers.

Each to their own, if we all liked the same thing it would be very boring indeed.

I don't like Dicentra, partly because I don't like the common name, but also because I can remember planting some with my ex. Also don't like Euphorbia because it looks so alien.
I'm not keen on anything exotic looking - lilies, cannas, gladioli, tree ferns and lots more. Nothing actually wrong with them just don't want them in my garden!
      I love dahlias.

I’ve gone off dahlias. Too “in your face”. Don’t like begonias as they tend to look artificial to me.
Some gladioli are OK, deeper colours are better than pale.

Variegated plants in general, hostas, zinnias, cosmos and most other bedding plants, chrysanthemums, begonias, dahlias with fancy flowers, wisteria, hybrid gladioli, pelargoniums, is that enough? I could go on and be more specific.

It's a bit of an obvious answer, but spotted laurel and conifers. Regarding the latter, I dislike them so much (after having to remove several leylandii that had been planted in the house before I bought it) that I have even contemplated removing my heathers, because when they are not in bloom the foliage looks almost conifer -like, but shrunk down :heehee:

I am not a fan of mophead hydrangeas or roses that have the standard form that you would get in a bouquet. I really love some roses, but they need to have more charm to them.

I also hate the "chameleon plant", which apparently is a real thug as well. And I am not a fan of petunias.

I like most things, but find it difficult to see where I could place huge dahlias in my garden. They look much more like things you cut for display rather than as plants. I hate the dirty magenta pink of some bergenias, yet when anisodontea has the same colour it's fine.
I'm with you on Leylandii @CostasK

I've never been a snob, but if a plant doesn't interest me I dont intend growing it, but I have no problem with those plants I dont find interesting.

I think all plants have their space, its just that I dont have enough space.

If it's willing to grow nicely (not too rampant, self-supporting, looks healthy), I generally allow it, though I did yank up a wild geranium (red stems, small pink flowers) today as they get everywhere if you give them an inch of space.

I try not to introduce anything slugs enjoy (apart from a hosta I've had since 2000) as it is disheartening.

I don't want yellow for some reason, except for Daffs. Yellow variegation, yellow flowers etc are all banned. Yellow eye in an otherwise acceptably coloured flower is tolerated, but I do keep those on their toes and squint my eyes dangerously when walking past them. :heehee:

Red Robin is also a no-no.

Anything variegated must have outstanding other merits to be allowed, Vinca Minor with delicate pure white variegation is a good one.

Also I don't grow anything that is not fully hardy as I don't like fussing about my plants. There are exceptions of course as trialling something new just for fun is, well, fun

                        I am the opposite @Selleri . I love yellow.

Last year I paid good money for a hydrangea because it is the "must have" at the moment for many people here. I ended up giving it away.

I do not care for any on my gardens.

I also will not tolerate forget me nots. Horrid invasive things!

I try to avoid anything with tender or juicy stems which might attract slugs so that rules out most annuals, plus lupins, Bergenias and dahlias. I’m not keen on anything that needs staking either, wind and rain cause too much damage to them. Apart from a tree fern, I won’t grow anything that needs winter protection. Any flowers must be bright solid colours, no pastels allowed. I dislike red Cordylines which always look miserable. Easy to please really .

Ummmm .... I can't think of any plants I dislike. There are lots of plants I wouldn't grow because my garden is not suitable for them, or because there's a lot of work involved in caring for them, but that doesn't mean I don't like them ... to me all plants look good in the right place
However, I don't think I'd want Choisya in my garden, because it reminds me of graves for some reason, but that's the only plant I suppose I can say I don't like.

I'm not fond of cordylines, but I have one that self seeded in the middle of a patch of Iris foetidissima and when it struggled above them, in a moment of kindheartedness I removed the Iris and let it live.
