    @Mike Allen i agree about scd, it's getting more and more away from ballroom. But some of the older professionals stay with it. The audience is getting too loud and argumentative for our liking. It's becoming more of a entertainment programme instead of ballroom.

      Hi,

      Thanks Mike. :dbgrtmb: Watching the ballroom dancers in #582 I found very emotional indeed; such skill and grace is to be admired and is increasingly very rare; I found the videos by chance whilst browsing YouTube for the Viennese Waltz; I'm not into classical music but I do so like these waltzes and can play them over and over.

      We never watch any talent shows on TV in fact we watch very little standard TV because it's mostly an insult to intelligence and getting worse; we can't name songs from modern singers unlike the 60's songs that we heard once and remembered for 50 years; modern songs are heard and forgotten. Anything goes these days as entertainment; I wonder when this modern trend of tattoos and body piercing will fizzle out; take one beautiful young lady; cover in tattoos and add lots of metal sticking out of her body; face and even tongue I find grotesque but it's only my old fashioned opinion of a time when we visited a circus to see the tattooed lady? I think it's sad for anyone who feels they need such things just to be with the "in crowd".

      One movie we actually like is "Dirty Dancing" there's a story to it and we like the songs;

      You might like this though Mike; we've watched it many times;

      Kind regards, Colin.

        Just watched a film on ch.4 from a few days ago called Paddington, the bear.
        There were a lot of old faces there, Julie Walter's was one, she's so talented.

                    We haven't watched a lot also never do. But last night watched Call The Midwife that was good for a special and Eastenders that was good, but had to wait until 9.30 to watch it, but it was an hour long.

                    Got loads of DVDs that we could watch, but never do.

                      I enjoy Eastenders but avoid it at Christmas as it must be one of the most depressing places to be at Christmas!!! It's the season of goodwill and cheer and it's guaranteed none will be found there!! I'll watch it after New Year again.:dbgrtmb:

                        I'm struggling to find anything that isn't sci fi or cartoons.
                        Thought I'd found a western I'd never see, then aliens turned up in it so I turned it off.

                        One foot in the Algarve on at 9pm on BBC 4, might just watch that again.

                          I saw a couple of episodes of Eastenders when I was over there and was fascinated. I declined watching my beloved Corrie there as we are two weeks behind and I didn't want to do the "back to the future " or "groundhog" style viewing. :loll:

                          One of the stations here is replaying the Agatha Christie Hercule series shortly after lunchtime each day. So much fun !!!

                            I think Eastenders is great at Christmas, i don't think that keano is dead, watch the new year one, there's supposed to be flashbacks. :)

                              Hi,

                              Bron and I pulled up the drawbridge for christmas and manned the machine gun posts having the best christmas ever in the last 43 years enjoying each others company; we wanted to be left alone because we don't enjoy the falseness of christmas. Normal TV as ever was normal it being mostly utter rubbish so as usual we selected our viewing through YouTube; I enjoyed lots of TIG welding videos and Bron enjoyed crafting videos.

                              One movie we did watch which we've often seen advertised on TV but thought it would be rubbish was "The devil wears prada",

                              The title always put us off but as we got into the movie we thoroughly enjoyed it; every year we buy the TV times which is throwing money away; pages and pages every day of the usual brainless garbage put out as entertainment.

                              Christmas morning I enjoyed re-laying a loose big wall stone and yesterday enjoyed about four hours TIG welding but I'm now out of argon gas so will have to wait until the gas supplier opens. Best Christmas ever though shutting the world and its problems out.

                              Roll on next Thursday and lets get back to virtual reality. :rasp:

                              Kind regards, Colin.

                                Hi Colin, glad that you both had a good Christmas. We never watch a lot of Christmas tv, always buy the radio times just to see when our favourite ones are on.

                                I'm looking forward to the new year, new series of Call the Midwife and Line of Duty. New ones with David Tennant in that i like to watch, he was good being the dr. in dr.who but i don't watch it now.

                                David Tennant has done voice overs for some wildlife programmes, i can always recognize his voice.
                                :)
