propogating roses - too late?

    I have two rose bushes, one has flowered and is presently loosing petals the other has not flowered and I want to take cuttings - please tell me if it's too late in the year to do this and tips on best method of taking rose cuttings

    there is a good article in gardeners world magazine about propagating roses it seems easy to do, good luck
