Pruning Cherry Tree

    I am pretty sure cherry are best pruned after flowering, this is a cherry although I cant find the name, it has a few very insignificant flowers in late spring.
    I would like to reduce the canopy and think I can best do that in it`s leafless state. Thinking of just a good cut by a third all over. IMG_20160907_173929234_HDR.jpg

    I think the best time to do it is mid summer so the the wounds dont allow silver leaf disease in which slowly kills the tree.
    Ive done one this summer with another to do next summer.hard trees to shape.
