How would prune this choysia? It’s grown a bit too big for the space but hasn’t been pruned for a long time so all the leaves and flowers, which are about over now, are on the outside the inside is mostly bare branches. I’d say it’s about 6ft tall by about 8ft wide. I’ve looked on line but found conflicting advice and I don’t find the RHS web site very helpful unless it’s for the perfect shaped shrub! What it does say is prune after flowering so I guess now? It needs to be about half the size it is but if I cut it all back it’ll just be bare branches.

I've cut them back to bare branches and they come back ok.

I even saw one cut off a ground level, almost, and it still came back.

You might miss the late summer flowering.

Ahh ok that’s encouraging! Thank you! I take that I try & cut back to a leaf or bud at least?
