      Hi Jiffy,

For a start, you can do it on here if it's your own book. :blue thumb:

I guess it's self-published other wise the publisher would have done publicity and given you advice.

What you need to do is get someone to review it (preferably a friend who knows how to do a good review) and then send the info about the book (together with the review) to all the local newspapers.

If the papers put it into their local news you can then use the copy of the paper to try and sell it into all the local bookshops. They're almost certain to want to take it on sale or return but if you're a good salesman you might get them to buy a few straight away. They are likely to want it at a discount of at least 40%.

If there are any book wholesalers in your area you may wish to send them the info and follow up with a visit. They usually ask for them at 50% of list price and let the shops make 33%.

I don't know what the subject is about so can't give any more info at the moment. Depending on subject, there are magazines, groups interested in the subject (best way of selling to them is to offer to give a talk on the subject and then sell signed copies - at a small discount if you wish). If you pitch your talk properly you can also get paid for giving the talk and the sales are made afterwards (prominently on display on a table near you) if they like your talk.

Maybe you should also have a word with Daisees as she has recently had a book published. It's years since I did my last one :old: :heehee:

I've helped a bit with these. There's a local chap that writes history and poetry. He self published and has the books as hardcopy and as ebooks from amazon and lulu.com/

Getting the word out about it, see Shiney's advice really! I'd also suggest being cheeky with it and just send it to Richard & Judy and a few other gobby people that blog, blather and bleat about such things - anything to raise the profile in a positive light (which is never guaranteed!)
