    Hello all

Just a bit of advice needed. We not so long ago had a random Christmas-like tree appear in the garden in amongst some shrubs. It certainly wasn't there when we moved in, so as newb gardeners we are confused. Anyway, do you think we should remove it?

    Thanks
    Tim

Yes its a Yew. All depends how much room you have in the garden. They can grow large but can be clipped easily to form into a shape.

Yew are beautiful trees I think and make great topiary.. Theydont grow that fast so very easy to shape.. I would move it from where it is tona place it can grow away if it was me.. We used to make Yew Longbows years ago and I remember the dust was so fine we had to wear a mask when sanding and cutting as even the sawdust is apparently toxic.. Although you are happily still with us Pete ;):spinning:

These are very famous Yew Trees just a few miles from me..

Excellent, thank you. And, um, the toxicity thing does not sound great , so glad I asked in this forum.

I'll take a close look tomorrow morning at the tree, but my wife has all sorts of allergies so potentially worth removing. Cheers

Thanks! Although with my lack of gardening knowlede and the Yew's potential toxicity, I may just remove for now.
