My strimmer, an electric 2-string McGregor, is supposedly auto-feed (as opposed to bumping) but I'm getting really bored of disconnecting the power in order to fix the strings. Either they don't come out enough or disappear inside the spool.

I can't justify a hugely expensive strimmer but I would like one with a reliable string mechanism. Any suggestions? Many thanks.

I've had a few electric strimmers over the years and never found the feed mechanism on any of them to be ideal.
My last one was auto feed, it fed out a small amount every time you started it.

It got through more line than it really needed, I've got a bosch one now where you have a button on the side of the reel which you push to feed about an inch of line each time.

I still seem to spend more time winding new line on that I do using it:biggrin:
Or maybe it just seems like it. :)
