Thanks @Freddy I have a pension, but I have to admit I haven’t been paying into it recently :yikes:....pensions don’t fill me with much enthusiasm, whilst I know some are very good I’ve also seen grown men literally sit & cry when they go wrong (Scottish widows if you remember they went bang a few years ago). I’ve ploughed my pension money into houses in a hope like you said ‘I will have an income for life’ & can sell one/them off over the years to give me lump sums. I do save into isa’s as back up plan, just incase the housing market tumbles before I retire! It’s so hard to know what to do...I’ve kinda taken the ‘throw enough moo poo’ opinion in a hope something will work!! :dunno:

One day left :hapfeet::hapydancsmil:that’s so exciting :yay: xx

Scottish Widows went bust? Aunt Sally has a small pension being paid from them at the moment? Some pensions are probably better than others, but with a workplace pension, the employer also has to pay some in, plus you get tax relief. Much better than a savings account, for instance. Anyway, property is a good bet

Well, it went better than I expected. Very low key, and no formalities, apart from handing in my passes to my team leader. I said goodbye to the folks that I wanted to, and a few that I didn’t (well, one has to doesn’t one:whistle:). It will certainly seem strange for a while, but at the moment I feel quite relaxed about it. I think this retirement malarkey is going to suit me. It kicks off this weekend with a trip to the Isle Of Wight :)

It would be very easy for me to just lie in bed, but I know i shouldn’t. I guess I need to have a new routine, one that doesn’t mean I’m still tired, but one that doesn’t waste time. At least now I have the choice:yes:

Be like me, I've been retired nearly 20 years but was working out in the garden at 5.45 a.m. today :heehee:

Now I'm having my breakfast, then a shower (not because I'm mucky with my food ), then a little bit of relaxing reading and off to the pub for lunch.

                        It's a hard life!

Going down to 3C on Saturday night so a reason - NOT AN EXCUSE - to have a lie in and wait for it to warm up first @Freddy ,
and the thought of not having to go in on Monday will feel like MAGIC,

So how's it going Freddie? You've been retired for a couple of months now, how are you finding it? It must be a big change after working all those years.

I'm interested to know, because I'm not far off 'R' day myself now - just 3 weeks to go.

                                Aye up Trunky

It’s hard to believe it’s only been two months, it seems a lifetime ago now. I have to say, I don’t miss it at all. Been away a few times, doing a few odd jobs around the house, enjoying the garden and playing golf a couple of times a week. All in all, I’m finding it very agreeable :)
Of course, everyone is different, but I’d been ready to pack it in for years, I just needed a little ‘incentive’.
So, 3 weeks? Looking forward to it?
