I envy you Rosa doing your own avatar. I really must have a go. I can't even work out how to get smilies on here!
I only got the bus pass so that I could boast to people and have them say - "you can't be 60 yet" -but unfortunately it hasn't happened - still I live in hope. I drive most of the time but hubby took my car out yesterday and someone reversed into him in stationary traffic! - needless to say it was a male driver - but of course I'm not being derogatory to any of the males on this site - thy were all too busy gardening!

What's a bus pass?I wonder if they will still be doing them when I get to your age, whatever that is.

Rosa.I know why you haven't got any beans on your runners. The bees cannot fly that high ha ha.
You will have to buy some in,put them on a collar and lead and show them the flowers, that's if they are'nt frightened of heights like me ha ha

    Hi clematis

sorry to hear about your blackfly. Try hosing them off. If that doesn't work get a hand spray (the type you use for misting houseplants etc)and put two drops of washing up liquid in, fill with water, shake and spray the blackfly. That should work.

    Morning rosa
For next year you can buy dwarf runner beans (not dwarf beans) and they grow to a height of about 18 inches. You can get a variety that has red and white flowers (I'll try to remember the name and let you know - I'm having a senior moment just now ;) ) and they look quite pretty as well as giving you veg.

I have been entitled to a bus pass for a few years. My local authority is 17 miles away and I would have to go there to get my bus pass and then, unfortunately, we only get one bus a week passing our house and the bus stop is a mile away :D .

    Well done Kandyfloss.

    rosa
When we moved here 34 years ago we realised that we would both need cars. We are not too far from things but need the transport. Our village is a mile away, the station is two miles and the nearest town is six miles. The country roads are too dangerous to ride a bike with the people driving at 60 mph (in a 40 mph limit) to get to the station. They are always in a hurry in case they get caught at the level crossing - they never seem to think about leaving a bit earlier!

(Stop ranting you silly old fogey!)

Thanks everyone. Shiney I have been out with my Fairy liquid this morning - I swear I saw the little blighters lifting their arms and enjoying the shower! Still I have picked 10 beans this morning - think I will frame them - not much to fill the freezer there. [IMG]
Look at that Rosa - I did it (I think). I hate clicking on things when I don't know what they mean.

Hi Rosa - yes, I spray my beans with washing up liquid and water in a spray - it seems to work and then I rinse them off a bit!

I have this vision in my head of you dangling over your balcony, hanging on by your feet, saying to the neighbours 'I just wanted enough for dinner'!! :D :D

Shiney - how about a pony and trap? Ive always wanted one of those [IMG]

Rosa. You make me envious as you have managed to harvest more than I have and mine are down on the ground.
It must be warmer up where you are.Don't they say that heat rises.
