I posted this in the wrong section before, this is my first post as a new member. Can anyone help, a large number of my pot sown runner beans have germinated and emerged upside down, i.e. root up, leaf down. Could anyone tell me the reason for this and whether or not it can be prevented.

Talking of runner beans, anybody tell me how long they ought to take to germinate outside? It's been warm and wet over here for the past couple of weeks and still no sign of them :( this is the third week I think, possibly the fourth... I really ought to write down when I plant things!
