    Hi all,

What size mesh is suitable to screen soil so that it can be used to lay turf on? In the process of making the lawn area bigger and removed 8 tonnes of soil. Made a homemade sieve with 10mm mesh and put it all through that. Will this be fine enough? If not, what size mesh should I get to run it through again?

    Thanks in advance!

Just my thoughts but I would think 10mm would be fine enough.

    Hi,
No lawn expert but had a couple of lawns made from seed and turf, but never needed to sieve the soil ? Just dig it over, rake it level, heel it in and rake again removing any large stones etc.

Sieving all that soil sounds like a long and painful job, if you must, though one of these might help .
