Grandpa Ott Morning Glory. The flowers are definitely smaller than Heavenly Blue, but the deep purple colour is nice.

The seeds I sowed didn't germinate! This Morning Glory is a self-sown plant, it probably came from a seed of my plants from last year that dropped into some compost that I later used for the hanging basket.

I just noticed that the Heavenly Blue that I struggled with from seed planted in February has just produced a flower today, and has lots of flower buds on it. In late October. Overall the later, May, planted Grandpa Ott were a lot more floriferous and abundant, and are still producing the odd flower. Heavenly Blue was the first to produce a few flowers, but at the height of summer wasn't doing much, and now it seems to be getting a second wind.

I am still getting steady flowers from my Morning Glory. The seeds sown in July have produced a huge clump but haven't flowered - yet.

@groundbeetle It's great to see your Morning Glory flowering now! If you remove the spent flowers frequently you will find the plants have more energy to climb & to devout to flowers! I try to remove any spent flowers every day if possible but if not as soon as I spy the seedpods forming. I normally end the season with relatively few seedpods.

July is rather late to sow seeds of annul flowers, especially climbers like Morning Glory. The season here is just too short for them to get to the height they need to reach before forming buds. Fortunately October has been a VERY mild month this year so don't give up hope just yet! :)

I know. We had removed Sweet Peas from the pyramid pot and I found a packet of seeds I had overlooked, so I stuck them in. You don't know until you try!
