Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin!

I went to B&Q for some goods I wanted delivered. They assigned me a nice young lady to come and note all I wanted which included manure, bark mulch, small cobbles, pea shingle and large cobbles. The last one they didn't have and the pea shingle we couldn't find so asked a garden chap. He showed us where they were, worked out how much I needed (4 bags) and then showed me 4 bags that had burst and were going for £1 each! Not bad, £4 instead of £27.96!

Of course, it was Wednesday so I was going to use my Diamond card but then you can't have two discounts on the one item (obviously). So this lassie and her supervisor took a whole hour manually applying a 10% discount to the other three items in order to make it right for me! Are B&Q's computers steam driven or what?

Never the less, that all done, then popped in to a local garden centre to get a bag of cobbles which were £7.98 - ouch! But when I got to the check-out she rang it up for £4.99. I questioned it (am I daft or what?) but having checked - and presumably found I was right, she just pulled a wry face and said for me to take it anyway as it was rung up now!

So, 10% off purchases, plus another £22 saved at B&Q and then £2.99 at the other place. More than paid for the delivery from B&Q.

All told a very good day!

Sounds like you had some bargains :blue thumb:

We get a 10% discount with B&Q through a work rewards scheme. Recently they had a special offer where we got 15% discount, so I loaded up my gift card and went shopping (any excuse).

Indeed! The delivery came about 1030am. The drivers were really nice and placed all the items exactly where I wanted. I just stood in the middle of the garden like a traffic cop pointing here and there as they came in with things! :heehee:

Such a pleasure to have pleasant chaps like that. so I rang the store and asked for Brownie points to be added to their files and also to the young lady than helped me last week. I love being able to do that!

Sadly now the warm weather is at an end, added to which my shoulders have decided to go on a mega sulk and it's all I can do to type this. Roll on surgery day! (:hate-shocked:)
