Should i dig up this plant and repot it

    I think it's just being mentioned that "patio" is just a sales pitch and that you can't be sure exactly what the tree will be. Ime and from reading up, these small trees are problematic because the rootstock is weak and it's why they lean when laden with fruit and have a short lifespan. The only solution is to stake it or keep it heavily pruned, so the weight of the tree can support itself. It's perfectly fine to keep them in a big enough pot because the root ball isn't massive like it will be with a full sized rigorous apple.

    Interestingly i remember when i repotted it last winter the roots were tiny but as i say im concerned about how tall its getting . Its staked now but i wouldnt say its heavily laden with fruit though . Its just got about 4 or 5 apples which is fine for me

    Enjoy eating the apples first and then take the tree back to the supplier and say it isn't suitable for your patio. You probably won't get a refund but you never know. Find something else more suitable for your situation and avoid trees unless you want Bonsai :)

      Prune your apple tree in winter when it’s dormant to your satisfaction. A sloping cut just above a bud does the trick. If trying to swap wait until later in the year then you can sample the apples on different trees in the GC. Carry a plastic bag as you only want to sample each apple not eat the lot. Or maybe you do.

      Thanks i dont think i can return it though, it was bought online and i dont remember where from . :gaah:
