No idea what this is, does anyone know please? Flower buds are on it as can be seen, it's about 7 feet tall. If I recall correctly it has pink or red flowers.

Thanks! Any particular variety? Bearing in mind my existing one is about 7 feet tall with a similar spread.

So, given that another poster has derailed this thread due to his own imaginary rules I'll reiterate my questions:

Thanks! Any particular variety? Bearing in mind my existing one is about 7 feet tall with a similar spread.

Also, are there any online stores where it's particularly recommended to buy Weilega ? I've already looked around and all I can find so far is rather small plants, I would though prefer to buy some that are perhaps 3 or more feet tall (at least). I realise that this adds to the cost but I'd like something that is a decent size already.

They root exceptionally easily so you might do well to simply propagate some large cuttings

Thanks, coincidentally I was just looking into that option. I think I'll do both - take some cuttings AND buy a few large plants (if I can find any online that are about 3 feet or more in width and height). That way I have some already fairly well established and others on the way, so to speak.

It's really hard to tell which variety before the flowers come out.

I'm in France and I go to a plant nursery as garden centres can be quite expensive. The Weigela I bought at the nursery was about 3 feet tall.

Weigela can grow very large...eg the one below!
This one may be Weigela rosea...but cannot be sure.
No idea which one is in your pics above..open flowers would help.

You may like this Weigela 'Briant Rubidor' with it's light almost yellow leaves.

Unfortunately I lost this young plant I had because of my poor soil - very sandy loam - but managed to take a cutting that rooted easily in water. I started the cutting off last Autumn and it's now 18 inches tall and looking healthy in a pot.

There are so many varieties that we lost track of what ours are. I agree with the others that they are very easy to propagate yourself. Pity you don't live nearer as we have quite a few for sale and ours are all cheap as they are sold only for charity and not commercially (none 3ft high). All unnamed but come from the ones in our garden.

I agree with @Busy-Lizzie that it's better to try and shop at plant nurseries rather than garden centres.

We have many shades of pink, some with almost white flowers amongst the light pink and others with deep red. Leaves vary from light green to dark green to variegated. They grow quite quickly and we have a couple that are over 10ft tall. They can also be grown as standards.

Thanks for the great photos and advice, lovely looking plants. :-)

Regarding taking cuttings, I guess this is best done once they have finished flowering?
