    Hiya all,
Went and turned my compost in the Dalek bin last night to find it's full of slugs  They're stuck to the lid, the inside walls and actually in the compost. Will they move out when the compost has finished rotting down? Or will I be distributing them around my plants with the compost? After the little swines have just munched 3 of my Sea Hollies, I'm not sure I want to give them extra yummy grub in the shape of my lovely plants  :(

Hi Windy.I would personally get rid of them, though I know the slug lovers on here would say differently. If you leave them they are likely to lay eggs within the compost and then you will spread them round the garden to hatch out,and nosh your nice expensive plants...

Windy I've got some great big ones in my Daleks too. What I find is that they tend to lurk near the upper levels and when I shovel out the rotted stuff from the bottom of the bin all I get is compost and a few worms.
I'm sure I read somewhere on GC a reply regarding the different types of slugs, some of which don't munch on green veg material.
At one time I used to pop slug pellets in the bins but no longer do it as apart from anything else I don't want to distress the worms and other bugs that are working their socks off making lovely compost.

    Thanks guys [IMG]
It's my first attempt at composting and it seems to be rotting down really well. Taking on board all your advice, think I'll play 'slugs in space' with the ones on the lid and sides and any others I can grab [IMG] and then scrutinise the compost before I use it to make sure there's none lurking in it. Don't know what I'll do about any eggs? Suppose I'll have to take my chances (and buy a super-huge box of that Slug Stoppa stuff that Hornbeam recommends  )
    Thanks again everyone [IMG]
