A pond, no matter what it's size, always needs maintenance and an eye kept on it:dunno::snorky:. If you get a lot of pond weed growth in the early months of adding it then that's just an indication of there being a lot of nutrients in the water and that the weeds are doing their job by taking it out and using it to grow. I go for at least two wades in the pond during the year in my Chest Waders to remove oxygenating weed from the surface and general tidying up. It's amazing just how fast pond weed will grow:wallbanging::heehee:

If you want a wildlife pond I wouldn't have fish! Are you going to plant stuff to hide sides of pond to make it look a bit more natural. I know it takes time to get things looking like it would in the wild and wish you luck.

Ill still get wildlife with fish in but probably not as much,

I was going to pave round the top to hide it but decided against it, the lip is better being there it stops any run of going into the pond that could contain garden chemicals etc, its a common mistake new pond builders make from my reading,

To me it looks very nice as it is its just what i wanted :)

                :phew: :pathd:

It looks absolutely fab and you should be very proud of your work! Is it obvious that I have raised pond envy? In fact, so envious am I ... I walked around part of my garden today with an old washing up bowl ... didn't quite look right, so I came back here to drool over yours instead. Your pond that is ... not your nuts

Thank you for your kind words Tetters, there's lots better ponds out there but i am pleased with it, for around £250 and 6/7 hours work its created a nice little feature, pity I only have a small plot it would be nice to have one on a bigger scale but ill make most of the room i have,

I've noticed water snails they must have come on the plants, more frogs visited the pond last week I spotted them jumping in on two occasions, hopefully the birds will start using it, i have view of the pond from my living room window it would be nice to sit and watch them,

Martin, most of my garden structures are made up with other people`s junk. My latest ''posh'' path is a heap of broken slabs - prised out of the builders yard for a donation to the charity box, and my new little pond will be an old hip bath...
The wildlife in your garden are obviously rating their new facility with five of these...:star: and the whole little garden room looks like a perfect place to unwind.... [IMG]

You cant beat all the old stuff its what makes a garden for me, I broke good slabs up for crazy paving, with a little time and effort a crazy paved path looks terrific, look at this design few pebbles and stones time and patience and you have a beautiful path,
                            zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.PNG

Old tubs make lovely features ive seen some lovely designs, we are wanting a Victorian lamp and post for over the pond and decking, I'm trying to do it the cheap way, finding one local that needs restoring is proving difficult at the moment,

Lots of old things can make wonderful features as long as you like it that's all the matters.
